We Need to Talk About Kevin - Lionel Shriver This book is the type of book that stays with you, whether you want it to or not. Shriver's novel is from a mother's point of view as she tries to come to terms with her son and the act of horror he committed. This novel isn't so much about the school massacre itself but about the mother coping with her failure as a mother and her guilt about her son. There is a reason why this book is considered to be one of the most disturbing books ever written; not because of the massacre but because of the psychological breakdown going on inside the mother.
