Vespers Rising (39 Clues, #11)
The 39 Clues series is one of my favorite children's series, and this one did not disappoint. I loved learning the back story behind Gideon, Madeleine, and Grace and the Vespers. I can't wait to read the next one.
This is a fun little companion to the Sookie Stackhouse books. I enjoyed the short story and meeting Sam's family, but I could have done without the in depth timeline. The cookbook at the end was a nice touch, and I can't wait to make the Wicked Peach Cake.
"In Search of Rose Notes" alternates between the past and the present, winding the story of Nora and Charlotte, 2 girls who were once best friends, and Rose, their babysitter that disappeared years ago.The story was engrossing and the mystery page turning, but other than that, I did not find the book to be that memorable. I'm horrible at picking out who the murder is, so I was in suspense until the end, but many of the characters felt 2 dimensional to me. In fact, the only character with some dimension was Rose, and she was dead for half of the book.
Evie's decided that she wants a normal life, complete with a boyfriend, high school, a job, and a locker. This all changes when IPCA contacts her to come back as a contract employee. I really enjoyed learning more about Evie, Lend, Ariana, and all the new creatures that appear in the book. White's unique spin on the different paranormal myths really makes this series unique from the other young adult paranormal series out there.
